Worshipping Jesus gospel-style, with Mietek Szcześniak

There are dreams God fulfils very quietly.
And there are dreams that only he remembers.

Mietek Szcześniak – the singer whose songs I used to sing in the attic of my family home many years ago. To stand beside him in the sacristy, to hear him live, to share a rehearsal and then to sing together – that was something more than an ordinary miracle!

Euphoria.
Joy.
Fulfilment.

And yet the most important thing happened elsewhere.

In the side aisle there hung a large image of the Divine Mercy, „Jesus, I trust in You”. More than once, as we sang, I glanced in his direction. Was he there? Was he listening? I smiled at him, because in truth he was the reason and the purpose of our concert – Jesus!

Jesus had the best view.

In that sea of lights and people in the church I saw no one but him. It was for him that I broke my weekend routine. For him that I practised. For him that I gave everything I had. I felt as though he were standing beside me, listening. As though he were closer than anyone else.

Tears of joy ran down my cheeks. Dreams I had never even spoken aloud had become reality.

Only my Jesus can work miracles like that.

The Lord was everywhere.
Glory to you, Lord, for the privilege of singing for you – in unity with people from different places and different histories, but with one heart turned towards you.

Gospel Joy workshops – the Municipal Cultural Centre in Nieporęt

The event began with Gospel Joy workshops at the Municipal Cultural Centre in Nieporęt. It was there that we spent the whole day working on the repertoire, the harmonies, our shared sound and the unity of the ensemble.

The gospel workshops in Nieporęt brought together people from various parishes, choirs and communities. Our own Dio Forte choir from Słupno was represented too! For many of us it was not only a musical experience, but also a form of spiritual formation. Gospel singing, dynamic and joyful, calls for humility, concentration and listening to one another. The Lord sowed the talent, and we doubled it.

Gospel Joy has been running workshops all over Poland for years, combining musical professionalism with genuine faith. This is not an ordinary choir – it is a community that leads to prayer through music.

The concert in the church at Stanisławów Pierwszy

The workshops culminated in a concert at the parish church in Stanisławów Pierwszy, in the Legionowo district. The church filled with singing, light and joy.

The presence of Mietek Szcześniak brought enormous maturity and calm to the event. No airs of stardom. No distance. With humility, joy and a warm wind from God!

The evening closed with the song „Na ziemi jest o niebo lepiej” by Mieczysław Szcześniak – about loving as though you had never been hurt, and about giving thanks that life simply is.
