Mary our Mother, the Patroness of the family of wild figs

I remember doing my homework – I may have been at the start of secondary school, or perhaps finishing primary school. My mother, Emilia, came into my room. She saw that my window was open and that the wind was blowing straight at me. She said: daughter, close the window, because the wind is blowing on you, and Mary is standing there shielding you with her mantle so that you do not catch cold.

Many times, too, I heard my late mother say: your Mother is the Mother of God; I have given you to her as her daughter, and whatever happens, she is your Mother.

I lost my mother suddenly. It did not even occur to me to check whether the doctor who said that the first two days after a stroke are the crucial ones was telling the truth. The internet was not yet so widespread, and there was no AI assistant either.

I was 23, a year after my wedding, and I was brave. I remembered that I was not alone, that she was already happy, and that I have Mary, who would take care of everything.

With God there are no coincidences. Years later I settled in Słupno, in the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima and Blessed Fr Bronisław Markiewicz.

Our Lady of Fatima

Mary, Queen of Our Family

Queen of Heaven and Earth (and of our family),

Virgin Mother of the Saviour,

I pay you homage,

And through you I glorify God

For all the graces he sends us

Through your intercession.

I give myself into your wonderful care

And I ask you:

Obtain for us from your Son

A shower of roses of the graces of Jesus.

Support us in our work,

Console us in sorrow,

Guard us against temptation,

Be our strength in difficulties,

Our shelter in dangers.

Grant that we may wake with God

And with God go to our rest,

Day after day.

Lead us ever closer to the Heart of Jesus,

That we may rest in it after the toils and battles of life.

In place of selfishness, pride and discouragement

May there reign in our hearts

Love, self-giving and humility.

Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like unto yours.

A prayer written by my mother Emilia, prayed constantly by our whole family.

Many families entrust their lives to the Mother of God as Queen of their family, asking for her protection and guidance.

You can also entrust your family in the Prayer on the Sycamore. Write to us!
